Biaggi heads day two at Aragon, Haslam off the pace

Max Biaggi set the fastest lap time of the second day of testing at Aragon with a best lap of 1m 58.7. The 2010 WSB champion was the only man to lap in the 58’s and was able to do that both this morning and this afternoon.

Troy Corser spent all day working with the new specification 2011 bike and is clearly making progress with his set-up. The new bike features revised weight distribution and a more powerful higher revving engine.

Tom Sykes impressed onboard the 2011 ZX-10R especially considering he was riding Katsuaki Fujiwara’s bike. Sykes and Fujiwara have very different riding styles and it was project leader Ichiro Yoda that suggested the two riders swap in an effort to gain feedback on the behaviour of the different set-up from each rider.

Former Xerox Ducati team-mates Noriyuki Haga and Michel Fabrizio shared the same lap time at the end of day two. Haga looked comfortable and relaxed onboard his Pata Aprilia despite a crash this afternoon, while Fabrizio also seems comfortable in his new Alstare Suzuki surroundings.

The biggest surprise of the day was the lack of pace from 2010 runner-up Leon Haslam. The British rider spent all day onboard the 2011 bike, but was plagued with electrical problems that drastically limited his time on track. He and the team remain confident that they will be in a position to push for fast laps tomorrow.

Stuart Easton completed more laps onboard the 2010 ZX-10R in preparation for Macau where he will ride the bike.
